Jesus taught that the second greatest commandment was to "Love your neighbor as yourself." (Mark 12:31).
The Christian faith was never meant to be something purely personal. Yes, there is a very personal and individual aspect to it. But, our faith is also meant to be lived out together.
The bible also describes the church as a body. Different parts playing different roles and working together.
Yes and no. Naturally, connections are made between people in church. But, most of us are quite busy. And others struggle to make connections.
Connections between believers are important enough that we think it requires intentionality.
Let's use the example of three people named Emma, Mary and Grace.
Mary is 'connected' with Grace. Mary commits to doing the following with and for Grace:
Each day, pray for Grace. Pray that she will continue to live her life with her focus on knowing and following Jesus.
Each week, check in with Grace. Maybe just a call or text message. Maybe in person.
Each month, meet up with Grace. Maybe a coffee or tea. Or maybe a meal. Or a walk.
And, Emma is connected with Mary. She is praying for Mary each day. Checking in on her each week. And meeting up with her each month.
Some people may have time and capacity to connect with one additional person.
